Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Toner/gloss.

Most Toner/gloss results last about 4–6 weeks, depending on hair porosity, shampoo frequency and sun exposure. Faders happen faster on porous or frequently washed hair; using color-safe products and cool water can extend vibrancy.

Glosses and toners are semi-permanent color-depositing treatments; they don’t lighten hair and won’t permanently alter your natural pigment. They wash out gradually over weeks, offering a gentle, low-risk way to refine tone and add shine without long-term change.

Toners and glosses can subtly blend a small amount of gray and soften contrast at the roots, but they don’t provide reliable full gray coverage. For stubborn or extensive regrowth, a permanent or demi-permanent root color is a better choice.

Many clients can receive a Toner/gloss immediately after bleaching to neutralize unwanted tones, provided the hair is healthy. Severely porous or damaged hair may require a recovery period or bond-building treatment first. Your stylist will assess and recommend the safest timing.

A Toner/gloss is temporary and won’t permanently interfere with future color, but it can influence tone slightly. Always inform your stylist about recent glosses before major color changes so they can adjust formulations and timing for predictable results.

Use sulfate-free, color-safe shampoos and lukewarm water, limit washing, and apply UV protection or heat protectant. For blondes use a purple shampoo sparingly to control brassiness. Deep-conditioning and occasional at-home gloss supplements can help extend shine and tone between salon visits.
